Studio Eidola is a Zürich based interdisciplinary studio founded by Denizay Apusoglu
and Jonas Kissling
They are currently working within the fields of design, architecture and craftsmanship by exploring materials, techniques and narratives to trigger behavioral and spatial conditions. Their approach is aiming to rediscover the qualities of the materials and describe the matter in the context of site-specificity and act of making by considering the material phenomenons.
Jonas completed his diploma in 2020 at ETH Zürich at the chair of Anne Holtrop. During his studies he further visited the design studios of Christian Kerez, Cecilia Puga and Annette Gigon. In addition to the study Jonas worked as a bricklayer, construction worker and carpenter on the building site to get a deeper understanding of craftsmanship and the use of materials. His projects have been exhibited in Bern, Zürich, Santiago de Chile and Sharjah Architecture Trienniale 2019.
Denizay is a designer whose focus areas respectively are: product design, design research and material experiments. She graduated, cum-laude, from her masters degree in design in Tallinn-Estonia after her bachelors degree in Istanbul-Turkey. During her studies, she had exchange semesters in Politecnico di Milano and ENSCI-Les Ateliers in Paris. She did her internship in Mendel Heit Design Lab in Berlin before moving to Zürich for a position in ETH Rapid Prototyping Lab in the architecture department.
